Stone Dressings

Stone masonry surface dressings enhance the appearance, durability, and functionality of stone in construction. These treatments, like polished, broached and droved finishes, provide texture, colour, and protection. They’re essential for both aesthetics and structural integrity, ensuring that stone elements complement design visions and withstand environmental factors and wear.

Stugging

This additional hand dressed surface finish can be added to the sawn stone using a point chisel to detail, this is commonly used on window surrounds, ashlar and quoins etc.

Broaching

This surface finish can be added to the sawn stone using a point chisel to form horizontal furrows across the stone, this is a common dressing detail used on window surrounds, ashlar and quoins etc.

Droving

This hand dressing finish is produced typically by using a 50mm chisel to form droved margins, returns and lintel soffits along with many other stone components for example quoins, copes and ashlar etc.

Polished

A polished ashlar finish is a sawn stone that has been cut to a dimensional size then sent over to the masonry team for quality check and to give all seen faces a rubbed finish to remove any imperfections caused throughout the preparation and cutting process.
