The quarry is situated between Elton and Alport. It was opened in the 19th century to supply gritstones. Records show that is has been used for buildings since at least 1926.

Wattscliffe Lilac is a fine to medium stone, lilac to pink in colour with occasional buff intrusions.

The average block sizes are 2000mm x 1000mm x 1000mm.

Wattscliffe should be suitable for most aspects of construction including flooring, paving and load bearing masonry.

There are good reserves of stone available.
